'I'm free !!!'

Hello fellow darers !!

Friday has come round again, and I expect you are all as busy as us as we fast approach Christmas. So we are going to keep things as nice and easy as we can for you through the next few weeks........firstly, we have decided to give the 'Little Extra' dares a holiday over Christmas/New year because life is just busy enough at the moment- and I can't see many of you getting up on Christmas morning to take up a new dare ! :) So the mid week specials will be back in January, but watch this space there are lots of exciting changes lined up of the 'Little Extra' but we will fill you in on all the details soooooooon.

Now, on to this weeks dare. Christmas is an expensive time of year (although every day of the year can be potentially expensive to us Crafters ! ;) Anyway, we thought it would be a good idea to run a dare that was 'inexpensive'..This week, we the DCM team, would like you to design a card using a magazine 'freebie' . Either a craft magazine freebie, or indeed any other magazine freebie, papers, embellishments, tools, etc. anything really, as long as it came from a magazine.

Now as always, you can share your lovely designs with us in one of two ways....either leave a comment (with a direct link to your blog included) or you can email a piccy of your card to our email address.www.daringcardmakers@hotmail.com and we will load it onto our gallery, for viewing.

Here are some of the design team members cards to spur you on hopefully!! Oh and on a final note- we the DCM design team would love to take this opportunity to wish all of our readers, darers and friends, a very, very Happy, Safe and enjoyable Christmas !! Merry Christmas everyone !!

Inside and Out

Hi everyone Gillian here, and it's my turn to dare you all this week
I dare you to take the design of your card to the inside as well as the outside.

Add a little finishing touch to match the theme on the outside,
or Surprise the receiver with a flap, foldout, decorated journal block to write on,
or one of those pop-out delights....
It really adds so much to a card when there is attention to detail on the inside
as well as the outside. I know some of you are finished your Christmas cards already
so this week it's Any theme, Christmas or not
But make the inside count too :)

We love to see your responses to our Dares, and as always, you can share your work with everyone in the two ways. Either leave a message with your blog link so we can come and see, or email your pictures to us at www.daringcardmakers@hotmail.com, with your name and website if you have one. We are so grateful that so many of you are joining in, it makes it so much fun - although- there are so many of you now that it is difficult for us to keep up with listing the links, so if you put your blog link on your comment- it makes it just as quick and easy for us and others to come and view your creations. So, Just in case you need any more ideas here are the fabulous creations the design team created to inspire you - you'll need to visit our personal blogs to see what's inside the cards!
Happy Cardmaking!

Santa's Little Extra Helper no 8 Tag Time

This is the last Christmas Little Extra before we let Santa's Little Helper put his feet up and have a rest.

By now you've probably finished making you cards, so for a change we thought we'd get you making some gift tags. However, if you've still got cards to make, then you can always use tags on cards instead.
It's up to you, as long as there's a tag involved it's fine by us!

Remember, Saffa's fab Candy Stripe Dare is still open for you to play along with and all the cards we've seen so far have been just as wonderful as ever - so keep them coming - we love to see your work. Here are some ideas from the Team for making and using tags:

Saffa's dare - Candy Stripes

This week is my turn (Saffa) to set the dare!
I love the stripey candy sticks that are around at this time of year so inspired by this I challenge you all to create a card featuring stripes of some kind, the occasion is up to you but you must use some form of stripes on your card. Maybe stamps, or paper, or ribbon...

We love to see your responses to our Dares, and as always, you can share your work with everyone in the two ways. Either leave a message with your blog link so we can come and see, or email your pictures to us at www.daringcardmakers@hotmail.com, with your name and website if you have one. Just in case you need any more ideas here are the fabulous creations the design team created to inspire you! Good luck...Happy Cardmaking!

Santa's Little Extra Helper no 7 Buttons and Bows

Thank so much for joining in with Rhi's wonderful "Tweet Tweet" dare, it's such fun to see all the birdie cards - and there's still plenty of time to join in if you haven't already, so why not give it a try.
It's Tuesday again so we have a midweek challenge for you to play with. Santa's Little Helper this week is themed
"Buttons and Bows"
Just in case you're one of those super-efficient types who've made all the cards they need already, you can still join in with a non-Christmas card for this one.

We'll be looking forward to seeing your cards for this one, so don't forget to leave a message telling us where to look. Just to help get you thinking here are a few ideas from the Design Team

Tweet Tweet

Thank you so much to Louly who's been our guest designer this past fortnight, it's been fantastic to have you on board sharing your creations. I'd like to welcome Ros as our guest designer for the next fortnight. Thanks for taking the time to come and play, we know this is a really busy time of year!

We also have some more exciting news, we would like to introduce two new team members, Mel and Rachel. We hope you'll give them a very warm welcome, we're delighted they've joined us.

This week its Rhi here to Dare you... and the theme is to do with our feathered friends!
(Are you remembering to feed them now it's chilly out)
Robins, love birds, cartoon birds, stamped birds, paper pieced birds, dingbat birds. Its up to you. I dare you to make a card with a bird or birds on, it doesn't have to be a real species, the more weird and wonderful the better!

As always here's the Design Team's cards to get you inspired! Join in in the usual way, either by emailing a pic to daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk or by leaving a link to your blog. It would be really helpful if you could link the actual post your card is on so we can come and see. Happy Crafting!

Santa's Little Extra Helper no 6

Please keep those "Song Without Words" cards coming, we are all enjoying seeing them and puzzling over which songs they depict. It's fun to have that extra twist to think about when making, and viewing the cards.
This week's Little Extra theme is:
"Hang Up Your Stockings"
Obviously we mean the stockings we put out in the hope that Father Christmas will pay us a visit and fill them with little treats (not your fishnets and suspenders!).
Maybe you're in a part of the world that has a different custom, for instance in some countries the children put their shoes on the windowsill rather than hang up stockings. Whatever you do, we'd love to hear about your traditions as well as seeing your cards, so please tell us a little about how you celebrate Christmas in your country and in your home.
Here's a website with more info on Christmas Traditions around the world
Here are some Design Team cards to help you on your way

Song without words

We have seen some wonderfully glimmering cards for Keryn's Golden Highlights Dare, and remember the "Baubles, Bells and Bows" Little Extra is still there for you to play with - so please keep sharing your cards with us, we love to see them all.
This weeks theme is brought to you by Lythan

Song without words

I would like you to create a card inspired by a song or a carol - it could be for Christmas or not! (you may have got all your Christmas cards done by now...) BUT there is a twist. the words of the song are NOT to be seen on the front of the card. You could leave it to us to guess! Have fun!
When you've finished your cryptic card creations, leave a comment with a link to your blog post and we'll come and see. You can also take part even if you dont have a blog by emailing a photo or scan to daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk and we'll add it to our gallery.
Here are a few cards from the Design Team to start you off. We're a bit depleted at the moment because of illness and various other reasons, but hopefully more cards will be added here by the rest of us soon, please bear with us!
